Merry Christmas to those who celebrate! One of the non-palaeo things I drew this end-of-year was one of the few animals in the original Mass Effect (aside from a thoroughly irksome space monkey). The actual in-universe name of this creature is 'The Shifty Looking Cow', it thieves your funds when you have your back to it and just generally looks a little upsetting (though I was thrilled when I found it, see image 4). Because of this, I propose the scientific name: Segnisraptor ontaromensis meaning "Lazy thief from Ontarom".
Also, this thing has TOO MANY KNEES and horrible baleeny teeth(?)
From the Mass Effect wiki (post by Lead Technical Designer Dusty Everman on the official Mass Effect forums): “I love the history of the Shifty Cow easter egg. When the character artists designed the space cow with two extra arms, Preston, our lead designer, was a little creeped out. His comment was "You can’t trust any animal that can milk itself." Those extra little hands look so...grabby. So Preston came up with the idea of Shifty Cow. Turn your back on him, and those creepy little hands are going to go to work. Kiss those credits goodbye.”
